There are a few girls who would go to great lengths to ensure that their ex boyfriends get as miserable as possible. However, the majority are really longing for an apology. Generally, women are more emotional than men, and heartfelt apologies touch them deeply. This means that if you want your apology to be really effective, you should make it touch the emotional side of your ex girlfriend.
Recognize and accept her feelings
Given that men do not usually display their emotions, you may have actually been trampling on your girlfriend's emotions. Perhaps you used to brush off some of the feelings he shared with you.
You need to change your approach if you want to make a powerful apology. Don't take her feelings for granted.
Give a clear explanation
This may not be as easy as it sounds. You should explain yourself very openly in order to let your ex know exactly why you took the steps that you did. Take full responsibility for your actions without any hint of pointing an accusing finger.
You should also explain how the steps you took have affected you. Again, do not put your ex on the defensive by giving any kind of blame, however disguised it may be.
Be sincere
There is really no need of apologizing if you do not truly mean what you are saying. If you try to give any justifications, then you are not really apologetic. Doing this takes away all the good you had already put into your apology, leaving it an empty mask.
Make proper timing
It is not just how you deliver your apology that is important but also when you do it. Delivering your apology at a wrong time may make things worse instead.
